FLYBACK TRANSFORMER

ABOUT FLYBACK TRANSFORMER

What is a flyback transformer?

A flyback transformer is an electronic component that generates high-voltage pulses by storing and releasing energy in a magnetic field.

How does a flyback transformer work?

A flyback transformer is a coupled inductor with a rifted core. In every rotation, when the input voltage is put in the primary winding, energy is stored in the space of the core.

What is the main usage of the Flyback Transformer?

Flyback transformers are used in providing voltage transformation and circuit isolation in flyback converters.

Why is it called a Flyback Transformer?

A flyback transformer is so-called because the primary winding requires a relatively low-voltage saw-tooth wave. The wave gets powerful first and then gets switched off suddenly; this causes the beam on the display to fly back from right to left. TV and monitor flyback transformers have about ten pins at the bottom of the flyback.
